With Easter upon us, it can be challenging to find ways to keep the kids busy and parents from going hopping mad! Looking for school holiday fun in Manly? We asked a local mum for her hot tips to keep the family chill this school break.
What are some of your favourite free activities to do with kids in Manly?
As a local family with young children we like to bike ride along the foreshore from Bayside Park Manly all the way to Lota Park, and walk through the markets or have fish and chips for lunch along the way. We love to get out on beautiful Moreton Bay to fish and just enjoy being on the water, among the Bay islands that are quite literally on our doorstep. We’ve been going to Movies in the Park for years – it’s beautiful to sit outside under the stars, catch a bay breeze, and feel the community spirit and sense of belonging to such a wonderful part of the world.
Where can you find the best kids menus in town?
We go to Marina Crest Chinese with the family for the great view over the Esplanade, and we love the honey chicken.
What about for the adults?
My favourite is Shucks Bar. My partner’s favourite café has always been Cambridge Lane & Kitchen for the cool laneway element and great coffee. Lunch or dinner at Tide on the Jetty and the new Manly Boathouse with friends (with no kids) is great too.
What would a great day out in Manly look like for your family?
Mad Hatters Bookshop is great holiday fun for the girls to attend the crafts events and book launches or just buy a book or several. Dropping into Ebb & Flow Homewares, Flowers on Cambridge and Apothecary Botanica for a great little shopping fix for me. We’ll grab sushi or fish and chips and sit in the park. The weekend markets are a great excuse to grab a coffee, buy a plant or two, or just sit by the bay and look at the boats in Manly Harbour Marina.
Still ready to make your little pirates walk the plank? Enjoy a great day out in Manly Harbour Village.
