If you have noticed the Public Notice of Proposed Development signs along the foreshore over the last week, you may be wondering what these relate to.
The relocation of the Wynnum Manly Visitor Information Centre to its new location on the William Gunn Jetty was stage 1 of establishing the Moreton Bay Discovery Centre, a partnership project between the Manly Harbour Village Chamber of Commerce and Moreton Bay Discovery Centre
The Public Notices are part of the process of applying for a Development Approval to extend the existing Information Centre/Café building by 73m2 to accommodate displays showcasing the natural, social and cultural history of Moreton Bay.
In addition to progress with the Council development application, a Moreton Bay Discovery Centre Museum Inc has also been established. This entity will be able to accept tax-deductible donations towards the construction, fit-out and operation of the Moreton Bay Discovery Centre.
With charitable status now in place, and the development application process well underway, the launch of a fundraising campaign to transform this valuable community asset from dream to asset is not far away.
