Almost 30 years ago an idea was born that was to change Brisbane.
Foodie, commentator and city doyenne Jan Power decided to forge the first Farmers Markets, putting pay to her passion for fresh produce, and her commitment supporting farmers and their livelihoods. The first Jan Powers Farmers Markets came to colourful and loud life at the Brisbane Powerhouse site, with the Manly location following; and today, Brisbane is a city indelibly inked with love for Farmers Markets.
Jan is now joined by daughter Sammy Power in running the markets. It’s in their blood – Great Grandfather T C Beirne had market stalls in Fortitude Valley more than a century ago.
Boasting some of the best marketeers in Brisbane, the Jan Powers Markets hosts a variety of stall holders that have become an institution within “the” institution, one of these greats is Pasta Capriccio!
It is like taking a quick trip to Italy when you visit Katja and Christian’s fresh produce stall at the Jan Powers Farmers Markets. Committed to producing the the best pasta, pizza and sauces using only the freshest products, this dynamic duo have a real passion and enthusiasm for what they do, a driving force that pushes them day by day towards new goals, all of which are oriented to improve the quality and characteristics of their products.
Originally from Pesaro, Italy Christian and his wife Katja bring their love of all things Italian to our doorstep. Hailed as one of Brisbane’s most popular and talented pizza and pasta producers, Pasta Capriccio is a stall not to be missed!
