Manly Harbour Village Shopping Centre has a rich history and has long been the central hub of the Manly Harbour Village shopping community.
Constructed in the 1960’s by Stan Davis, the original Mall had a butcher, green-grocer, newsagent, general store and a barber, before being home to one of Brisbane’s Cash and Carry Stores. All very similar to the shops and services that can be found in the shopping centre today.
Interestingly, The Mall was actually the original name of the Village Shopping Centre built on the corner of Cambridge Pde and Stratton Tce. Many locals have shared their stories of their time spent working and shopping in the building and the local village stores.
While there have been lots of changes over the past 60 years, Manly Harbour Village still retains its village feel even as it transitions to a more vibrant and progressive shopping, dining and leisure precinct. .
