While Vincent Van Gogh stated, ‘There is nothing more artistic than to love people’, it could equally be argued that loving a place can also fire the imagination. Many of us love Manly Harbour Village; its natural bayside beauty, its Esplanade walkway, and sea fresh air. We also love the vibrancy and variety of the retail precinct and the fact that many of our ‘good-time’ leisure activity memories have been set to the backdrop of Manly businesses.
If, like me, you have experienced great coffee, an extraordinary range of food, friendly service, and, for a small town, a surprising array of gift ware in our local precinct, this Valentine’s Day, it might be time to give a little love back. By taking our nearest and dearest to one of the many eateries, by buying them flowers, gifts and books locally, or by pampering them at Manly massage or day spa establishments, you demonstrating how you care for the love of your life while showing local businesses that they are also valued.
Manly’s Mad Hatters Bookshop has recently launched the book Around Australia in 30 Places. Of the 30 places, it’s great to see Manly mentioned. It seems that valuing Manly is not just something that locals do.
