Significant community events such as the Manly Harbour Village Halloween Street Party, held last weekend, can only happen with a combination of components: components such as creative vision, management team, the partnering with the regulatory authorities, financial sponsors and the media.
Whereas each of these components is important, the most significant component is the volunteers. The hours, days, weeks and even months of input by a dedicated team of volunteers, who tirelessly have input of ideas, time, sweat, laughter and tears, are the building blocks that vibrant communities are built on.
Without the input of the volunteers, the financial viability in strict commercial terms, would not allow these sorts of events to happen.
The Manly Harbour Village Halloween Street Party volunteers included among others, Floranel Budziosz addressing all the compliance issues, Lyn Husband again putting together over 20 hours of stage and street entertainment, the performers themselves, John Robinson from the Manly Dragon Boat Club coordinating the on water activities, Val Sharp who has orchestrated the Halloween Street Parade every year since the event started, Steve Rickertt for event communications, Peter Farley as site manager which in the weeks leading up to the event becomes a full time job, and David Raetz overseeing all the street stalls. The list goes on.
To one and all, we say thank you.
