Last Sunday was a picture perfect day in Manly. For the thousands of Manly Creative Market goers, it was made even more enjoyable by the melodious sounds of live music.
The Manly Harbour Village Chamber of Commerce and Bayside PCYC event, Bands in the Park, assisted the process of allowing instrumental students and local students progress from lesson to rehearsal to performance. It also allowed their families to experience a feeling of belonging and and contributing to the local community whilst encouraging the community to become an active participant in schools’ instrumental music curriculum.
Bands in the Park featured Manly, Manly West, Tingalpa, Wynnum, Wondall and Wynnum West State School Concer bands along with other community bands, some with featured vocalists. Embedded in the program was The beginner Camp concert, the culmination fo 3 days of intensive rehearsing by over 100 year four and five students. The result was a toe tapping, captivating experience.
The inclusion of local musical talent in community events has been a strong feature of Manly Harbour Village events for decades. With the committed support from the Manly Harbour Village Chamber o fCommerce, Bayside PCYC and dedicated organisers such as Lyn Husband, music will continue to flourish in our community.
